Year 1 and 2 have been learning all about London this term. We began our topic by making scones in a bakery on Pudding Lane. This was where the Great Fire of London started. We built Tudor houses and burnt them on our school field – it was very exciting and the flames spread quickly. To make sure we were safe around the fire, we also had a visit from the local fire service who came in their fire engine. It was really fun to look around the engine and find out what they have to wear.
We were very lucky and got the chance to visit London too on Friday 18th October. The coach dropped us off next to the London Eye and then we walked along the River Thames. The buildings were huge! We got the chance to see The Globe Theatre where William Shakespeare’s plays were performed and then we walked across the millennium bridge to St Pauls. Finally, we visited Pudding Lane where the Great Fire of London started. We have had quite an action packed start to this year!
