Athletics at Maiden Erlegh School - Year 5 and 6

Lambs Lane was recently invited to attend an Athletics competition at Maiden Erlegh School in Reading. On arrival our team of 20 were ready and prepared for the upcoming field and track events. In a competitive competition 20 schools had joined together for a fun filled afternoon. Each participant had 3 to 4 events in which to show their athleticism.

Competing in the Boys Obstacle race was Charlie, Sammy, Sam and Balian who closely fought a 3rd place finish in their group. In our 4x1 Lap Relay race was Aaron, Jack, Benji and Ethan. They achieved a winning finish in their group. Jacob and Balian entered in the tiring 6 Lap Paarlauf and came home in 3rd position.

Jessica, Evie and Brooke participated in the Javelin event finishing in a fantastic 2nd place out of 18 schools. Next event was the Vertical Jump in which I chose Amelia, Natalia and Olivia who finished in an incredible 4th position overall. Rose and Madeline entered the Speed Bounce event which needed speed and concentration, both girls did fantastically with a 3rd place finish in their heat. Ella and Amelia also had an impressive 2nd place finish in their heat during the 2 + 2 Lap Relay.

With all points tallied up Lambs Lane finished in a respectful 15th position. Throughout the event all Athletes showed determination and a willingness to try their hardest. They were a credit to the school and I was proud to be their coach. - Mr Butler, Sports Coach
