Late in 2018 we applied for some tree saplings from the Woodland Trust to plant over on our playing field. We applied for 30 hedgerow and 30 copse saplings. We were successful with our application!
The 60 saplings arrived before Christmas. To keep them safe over the Winter months we potted them up in tubs and kept them in a sheltered spot. As the weather warmed up and we started to see some Spring like weather the saplings started to shoot so it was time to plant them out.
During the Easter holidays, on a lovely sunny morning, Carl from SCS Landscapes (our gardeners) and Mrs Shepherd set them all out and planted them! Carl dug a simple hole using his shovel, the sapling was popped in the hole, the earth was patted down and the sapling secured. Next we firmly placed a stake to support the sapling and then the protective cover placed gently over the top. Let's hope we get some rain and sunshine to help them on their way.
